An unusable lawn is transformed into an urban meadow for pollinators.

Crafts Avenue, Northampton City Hall

This site consists of a very steep slope covered in lawn. As grass, it offered little aesthetic value, and was never used by anyone while also being dangerously difficult to mow. The site is highly visible and provides a perfect location for a pollinator meadow. The city allowed us to plant a trial portion of the slope and they even covered the cost of materials. Volunteers helped plant 750 native perennials that have since gone on to thrive, leading the city to greenlight the transformation of the remaining portions of the slope into meadow.
